This year, “Team Daymark” was 18 members strong joining the more than 2,500 others who participated in this great cause on July 27th. With this year's fundraising of more than $25,000, “Team Daymark” has now raised over $170,000 for Run to Home Base. As much as I’m not a huge sports fan, I still like to see cool stuff. We came in behind second base and ran up the length to third to the finish line. There were cameras there so I put on my best “I’m not dying, I’m having a great time!

Participants of this unique Boston fundraising event will end their run with the unforgettable experience of crossing home plate at historic Fenway Park. Home Base proceeds from the event will fund the clinical care provided to Veterans, Service Members and their Families. There are so many people that have been part of my “learning to be an athlete” journey and I love to share my wins. I posted it, of course, but then took to Twitter to complain, as one does. We should be proud of every little accomplishment, from marathons to 5Ks to getting out of bed in the morning. Heck, I know I’m always trying to do better with that last one.

My overall time wasn’t my best 5K, but I was still pretty proud of myself for getting out there on a Saturday after a long week of wrangling children. After we crossed the finish line we had a chance to take a picture running over home plate. I’m not even close to home plate in it and I just look silly.

Home Base honors all the soldiers and their families that have sacrificed their time in war protecting our country. Also, honored are the men and women who lost their life caring for our country. Since I ran alone I asked a random girl to take my picture after and a stranger made a comment about it being a “Facebook/Instagram post” which it, of course, was. That comment kind of put a damper on my whole experience because it felt so negative about sharing your accomplishments. Sure, people don’t have to know every little thing you do, but I had a lot of people text and ask me how my race went.
This year marked an important milestone for the organization as Home Base celebrated the 10th anniversary of its largest fundraiser. We’d like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone on Team Daymark, everyone who made a donation, and all those who came out to cheer on our team. For the 10th straight year, Daymark employees, their families and clients supported“Run to Home Base” an annual event committed to helping veterans suffering from mental trauma and brain injuries.
The 2019 Run to Home Base Florida honors and supports Southwest Florida Veterans and their Families. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Home Base’s Southwest Florida initiatives, including our Warrior Health and Fitness Program and the two-week Intensive Clinical Program. Over the last decade, more than 25,000 people from across 30 states have participated in the Run to Home Base, raising more than $19 million to support the free clinical and support services at Home Base. Bridge and Boylston Street and the participants get a special finish by crossing home plate inside Fenway.
Since 2003, the brand has sent 10 cases of coffee each week. At today’s Run to Home Base event, Dunkin’ and our Veterans Employee Resource Group will have a table which encourages attendees to write letters to our troops, to be enclosed with upcoming coffee donations. Support of the Run to Home Base ensures that our world-class clinical care remains available at no cost to the participant or family. Thanks to our generous sponsors, 100% of every dollar raised will go directly towards the life-saving care provided by Home Base.
2022 Run to Home Base registration details are only as accurate as the event has made them. Veterans and Active Service Members, 183 military spouses and family members, 60 family members of a fallen Service Member were among those participants. From what I’ve read about this program, it’s based out of Boston, which is why there is a Florida race – at the Red Sox Spring Training center! JetBlue Park is a fairly new facility (I don’t know, I’m not big on sportsballs) and is kind of surrounded by a school and some office buildings. Since its founding, Home Base has provided clinical care and support for more than 21,000 veterans across the country. The annual Run to Home Base, an event to raise awareness for the "invisible wounds" in returning military veterans and service members, celebrated its 10th anniversary Saturday. Has been providing road race timing, management, and computer services throughout New England and beyond since the early 1980s. From the summit of Mt. Washington to the starts of the New York City Marathon, we have timed and scored thousands of races including road races, cross country meets, triathlons and biathlons, bicycle and canoe/kayak events.
