This week, Floyd began selling a limited amount of the Floyd Leg in the original prototype blue (see image), along with its core black and white sets. The blue legs were so popular they sold out in three minutes. Floyd is still selling its original black and white Floyd legs. Each leg is made from U.S. steel and is sold in a set of four. Founded by Kyle Hoff and Alex O'Dell, Floyd is committed to sustainability and wants to reduce the disposable nature of furniture.

Symbolizing the growth of the three Nordin Brothers, this sculpture is 20 ft tall and is made of steel and glass.

Change is afoot at the Michigan Design Center in Troy. The furniture and home decor center has a new showroom, the Gallery of Luxury, featuring furnishings from several luxury European manufacturers, including Cattelan, MaxDivani, Bonaldo, Miniforms, Pianca, Glas Italia, Fiam, and more. Opened by industry veteran Marsela Gjoni in Suite 33, she also plans to feature a rotating mix of art from local artists. “We offer our clients pieces that go beyond trends and fashion,” said Gjoni in a press release. Freedom of Flight was created to salute Selfridge Air Force Base in Harrison Township, Michigan. 20 ft tall made of stainless steel, carbon steel and glass.
Selected by Coach Jim Harbaugh to stand as the Most Valuable Player symbol for Michigan Football it lives in Schembechler Hall in Ann Arbor, MI. Todebush, while pointing out many top name brands, emphasized the level of service at the MDC in conjunction with the number of options available.
Michigan Design Center invites public to ‘ArtWalk at MDC’
Commissioned by the City of Harrison Township, this 20 ft tall sculpture is made of stainless and carbon steel. Migration symbolizes the wildlife and nature throughout the community. Named the Bo Schembechler MVP award - every element is handmade from carbon steel, stainless, blown glass and leather, the sculpture is 9 feet tall. The sword and shovel symbolize going to work and protecting the home.
COLLABORATIVE MEETING SPACE
Placed in Campus Martius each year to celebrate Hanukkah, the 25 ft Menorah attracts thousands of people each year. Commissioned by the Windsor Bridge Authority and Frog, this 20 ft sculpture was created from original components of the Fort Street Bridge in Detroit. Additionally, a live demonstration will take place from noon to 1 p.m. Kader Boly of CAI Designs will perform a live art demonstration and interview in Suite 82. The piece created during the demonstration will be raffled off afterward.
Everyone is welcome to browse in all MDC showrooms, but due to the custom nature of certain furnishings, purchasing in some showrooms is facilitated through trade professionals. Purchasing policies vary per showroom, as each is individually owned and operated. Commissioned by Moceri Development, the sculpture is 10 ft tall and weighs 4000 lbs.
Commissioned by the Satetsky Law Firm in Birmingham Michigan, Destination featured are 3 ft diameter cast glass centerpiece, the sculpture is stainless steel and is 16 ft tall. Commissioned by Hatch and Strategic Staffin Solutions in Detroit, this sculpture is made of steel and glass and stands 20 ft tall. Standing in the middle of Michigan Avenue near the historic train depot, it was dedicated by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan. The sculpture symbolizes one generation of Detroiters handing the torch to the next. It symbolizes Detroit’s historic architectural and pays tribute in the columns of the base to the Armed Forces.
Commissioned by the City of Beverly Hills, Michigan, this sculpture is 15 ft tall and is made of steel and glass. Michigan Design Center has been serving designers, architects, builders, and consumers throughout the region since 1977. Our 215,000 square foot, single-story campus is home to more than 30 beautifully-curated showrooms representing more than 1,000 manufacturers.
